Woman Bites Off Friend’s Lip Over Gossip

A 32-year-old woman has been arrested and charged before Isolo Magistrates’ Court for allegedly biting her friend’s lower lip during a fight at Ajao Estate, Lagos State, western Nigeria.

The victim, Ada Joy Samuel, lost a part of her lower lip after she engaged Ejiofor Chioma in a street fight over allegation by Chioma that Ada was spreading gossip with her name.
The incident happened at Canal Extension, off Itanola Drive, Ajao Estate, Lagos where the two friends reside.

Trouble started after Chioma, a mother of four whose husband had relocated to their village in Umuahia, Abia State, accused Ada of gossiping with her name to the neighbours.
This caused a disagreement between Chioma and Ada that eventually resulted in both fighting in public.

During the fight, Chioma allegedly grabbed Ada and bit off part of her lower lip which fell on the ground.

Ada started bleeding profusely and was rushed to a hospital, while Chioma was arrested and taken to the Police Station at Ajao Division and later charged to court with wounding under the Criminal Code.

When she was arraigned, she pleaded not guilty and the presiding Magistrate, Mrs Y. R. Pinheiro granted Chioma bail in the sum of N20,000 with one surety in like sum..

The prosecutor, Inspector A. Abasss did not object to her bail but asked the court to take judicial notice of the seriousness of the injury sustained by Ada.

She was remanded in prison custody pending when she would meet the bail condition and the matter was adjourned.

Take Our Deal Or Leave It, NFF Tells Keshi

The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has told Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi that the only way he can get the Eagles job is to sign the revised contract offered to him.

Keshi has been backed to the wall following his failure to land both the South Africa and the Burkina Faso jobs, that himself and his agent used as bargaining chip during contract negotiations.
The NFF offered the Keshi a reviewed contract following his inability to qualify the team for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

“We are not saying 100 percent that it is Keshi, we are not saying that I can assure you 100 percent. It can be other persons.

“It can only be Keshi provided he accepts totally the contract we have offered him. If he doesn’t accept it, then I can tell you right away that he is not going to be our coach,” NFF President Amaju Pinnick said.
“Now if Keshi says for example that one clause in that contract is not good for him, it means he doesn’t want the job, so we can now open it and look for other coaches that are ready to coach Nigeria.

“Like I have said before, I will say again, if Keshi decided not to accept the contract, we are not going to change the contract for any other person we want to employ because to us what is good for the goose is good for the gander.”

BUHARI IS NIGERIA’S MANDELA —OKOROCHA

Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, has likened the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) to late Dr. Nelson Mandela of South Africa and urged Nigerians to give him the mandate to steer and stabilise the ship of state. Addressing Imo State indigenes who gathered on the banner of Imo State Towns Development Association Lagos (ISTDAL) at a colourful reception for him at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, Okorocha said at 72, the only thing uppermost in Buhari’s mind was to clear the rot in the polity and move on.

The governor, who spoke in Igbo language, said if the South-East Zone wanted to produce the president in the immediate future, the people must elect Buhari. Reason: “Buhari is the Mandela of our time. At 72, what does he want? He will do one term, fix the country and move on and then power will be come back to the South. When power rotates to the South, the South-East will have it in 2019 because the South-West has had it through Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and the South-South through Dr Goodluck Jonathan.’’

However, he said the South-East would not be in the stead to produce the president if they did not get their politics right by voting for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which he claimed had marginalised the South-East. According to him, ‘’under President Jonathan administration, the South-East is not among the five topmost positions in the country (President, Vice President, Senate President, Chief Justice of the Federation, Speaker of the House of Representatives), does not have any of the service chiefs, Inspector General of Police, Controller of Customs, Immigration, Civil Defence, etc. We only have controller of Prisons. This is not fair.’’

APC LEADERS AFRAID JONATHAN WON’T RENEW OIL WELL LICENCES –GANI ADAMS

National Coordinator of Odua Peoples Congress (OPC), Gani Adams, has said leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are afraid that President Goodluck Jonathan may not renew their oil well licences in September if he is re-elected on March 28.

He said this yesterday in Lagos when the Coalition of Concerned Nigerians staged a rally against the continued stay of Prof. Attahiru Jega as the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“It is ridiculous that the APC has accused us of collecting money from the Federal Government for the elections. We are Nigerians and everyone is entitled to vote or support whomever he/she choses to

The national leader of the APC and many APC stalwarts got oil wells from the Federal Government. One of the reasons that they don’t want Jonathan back is because the president is going to sign for the renewal of oil well licenses in September and they are afraid that he would work against their interest.
As far as we are concerned, the onslaught against the president is more economical than political,” Adams alleged.

He also accused Jega of partisanship in the run-up to the general polls, insisting that he must go on terminal leave and be replaced with a more credible administrator before the elections.

Boko Haram Have Legitimate Grievances - Obasanjo

"The response of the government initially was definitely not enough. When Boko Haram started showing their fangs about four years ago, the reaction should have been firm and unmistakable. If Boko Haram is ready to talk, we should talk. But they will need to be pounded a little bit by the military and then, they would be ready to talk,” he said. Boko Haram’s Grievances Legitimate, Says ObasanjoThe former President said this in an interview with International Business Times UK at a global education conference in Dubai, UAE yesterday March 16th. "They have legitimate grievances,” he said.

He said that the low level of education in the north is largely responsible for the restiveness by the sect members "We don’t need anyone to tell us that it's a problem. A problem of disparity, a problem of marginalization"
He blamed President Jonathan's administration for not showing enough response when, according to him, the sect group started showing their fangs
