2015 Elections Campaign Kwara PDP Procure 200 Motorbikes Megaphones

The PDP Chairman in Kwara, Chief Iyiola Oyedepo, on Sunday said the party would procure 200 motorbikes and megaphones for effective campaign ahead of the 2015 general elections.

Oyedepo said in Ilorin at a fund-raising event organised by the party that the motorbikes and megaphones would be used to propagate the party’s manifesto.

``They will also be used to propagate the programmes and policies of the party to the people of the state, ahead of the elections,’’ he said.
The chairman disclosed that the party would need an average of N500,000 daily for logistics to effectively prosecute the forthcoming elections.

Oyedepo said media and publicity campaigns, as well as a door-to-door campaign strategy would be employed, saying all these required fund and resources in order to overcome the challenges ahead.

He therefore appealed for generous donations that would assist the party to emerge victorious at the elections.

The chairman said the fund-raising was to liberate Kwara from ``the evils of one-man sponsorship and single soul-dominated democracy the state has been facing in the last 45 years.

``We don’t want a sole financier who will pocket the party and derail the much-sought freedom.

``Therefore, the fund raising dinner will not be limited to aspirants, party leaders, moneybags, or those who can only afford the N10,000 per dinner plate,” he added.
Oyedepo said it was a new dawn for Kwara because the PDP has been rebranded with a manifesto and a six-point agenda which would be its pact with the people.

``Fund-raising is PDP’s cardinal policy to make everyone part-owner of the party.
``Even students and the poor can contribute their widow’s mite to have a sense of belonging and contribute to the state’s progress,” he added.

Oyedepo claimed that his executive committee met an empty treasury when it came into office, while there was no party secretariat, furniture or office equipment and stationeries.

``We inherited nothing as assets. But today we can boast of 17 vehicles for all the 16 LGAs in Kwara,” he said.

He also said PDP can now boast of befitting state, LGA and ward secretariats to therefore attract more people to join the party in the state.
