Mother, 35, Appears In A Nigerian Court Over Alleged Assault, Unlawful Entry

A 35-year-old mother of three, Titilope Olabode, on Monday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates' Court in Lagos over allegations of assault and unlawful entry.

Olabode, who resides at No. 18, Molete St., Ibadan, Oyo State, is facing a two count charge of illegal entry and assault.

The prosecutor, Insp. Chinalo Uwadione, told the court that the offences were committed on Oct. 28 at No. 14b, Moradeun Alabi Crescent, Magodo GRA, Lagos.
He told the court that the accused claimed to have travelled from Ibadan to Lagos on the prompting of a voice that had directed her to the complainant's home.

"Olabode knocked the door of the home of one Mrs Funmi Igbeta and attempted to gain entry,

"She was obstructed by the housekeeper, one Miss Blessing Voubitrus, who opened the door and raised an alarm when the intruder tried to force her way into the house.

"The defendant then bit the housekeeper on the arm and fled to the garage in the house, where she hid,’’ Uwadione said.

The prosecutor said the defendant was later apprehended by neighbours and handed over to the police.

He said that the offence committed contravened Sections 171 and 306 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

Section 306 stipulates seven years imprisonment for breaking into a residence.
The Magistrate, Miss O.A. Akinde, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.

Akinde also directed Olabode to deposit N10,000 in the account of the court’s Deputy Chief Registrar and adjourned the case to Dec. 15, for mention.
