Ekiti monarchs receive car gifts

Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, on Monday, presented a car each to the Attah of Ayede-Ekiti, Oba Mumini Orisagbemi and the Olupole of Ipole-Iloro, Oba Oladele Babatola.

Fayemi, who was represented at the event by his Special Adviser on Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Aderemi Ajayi, recalled that all the monarchs in the 131 towns in the state were presented with vehicles by his administration in 2013 except the two who had not ascended the throne at that time.

He said, “When we presented cars to all the monarchs last year, the two towns were being administered then by regents. But after some time, the communities were lucky over the selection of their traditional rulers and subsequent approval by the State Government.

“We plead with you to reciprocate the gesture by ensuring peace in your domains, particularly during the June 21 governorship election.”

Applauding Fayemi for the gesture, Orisagbemi, who is a first class traditional ruler, said he would continue to contribute to peace and progress in the state.

“I will join the well-meaning Ekiti indigenes in stopping those who thought they are God and want to hijack the state at all cost during election”, Orisagbemi vowed.

Oba Babatola, who praised Fayemi for uplifting the Erinta Waterfall in Ipole Iloro and Ikogosi Warm Spring to attract global attention, assured that these enduring legacies would make the people vote for his re-election in the Saturday election.
